Throughout the years Maarten has been in the privileged position to learn and grow his experience and network whilst working for and with some of the finest companies and talented artists. Here’s a fine selection of labels and artists he worked on. Job descriptions a/o positions right below the company a/o artist name on this page.
STEPHEN EMMER
Marketing & Promotion, product design for album and single releases and social media content.
ALBUMS
Late 2014 saw the start of his working relationship with one of the leading Dutch media composers and arrangers, Stephen Emmer. He is known for composing the leaders for TV shows, like RTL Boulevard, RTL Late Night, NOS Journaal, Waku Waku and Per Seconde Wijzer (a.o. many, many others).
This took him on what turned out to be a genre defying journey. Stephen is an artist who challenges himself by producing music in a wide variety of styles. Maarten got invited to become Marketing & Promotion manager for Emmer’s so called ‘free work’, starting with the release of his upcoming International Blue album, which was actually a tribute to the lost and almost forgotten art of pop-crooning.
Next project was the re-release of spoken word album Recitement, which originally got released on Supertrax. The album got mixed and mastered in New York by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie, Morrissey, a.o.) and included artists such as Lou Reed, Yoko Ono, Richard Burton, Allen Ginsberg, Remco Campert, Hugo Claus and Sacha de Boer.
Other albums he worked on included Home Ground (featuring Chaka Khan, Patti Austin, Mary Griffin and the late Leon Ware (Michael Jackson)), Home Ground (The Wilroy Remixes), Maison Melody, Maison Melody AM:PM (in Dolby Atmos), and more recently Mt. Mundae. Stephen’s other free work throughout the past decade included a variety of legendary artists, such as Midge Ure (Ultravox), Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), Michael Dempsey (The Cure), Ursula Rucker (4 Hero), Kendra Foster, Frank McComb and Dwight Trible (a.o.).
What initially started as a M&P job gradually morphed into a position on the creative side, with a clear focus on creative production, like graphic design, video editing and designing and building some websites.
SINGLES
Single releases take from these albums included (a.o.); ‘Untouchable’ ft Glenn Gregory, ‘Taking Back My Time’ ft Midge Ure, ‘Sleep For England’ ft Julian Lennon, ‘Under Your Spell’ ft Chaka Khan, ‘Home Ground’ ft Patti Austin, ‘Close To Life’ ft Frank McComb & Leon Ware, ‘A New Day To Come’ ft Andy Bey and ‘Soil’ ft Ursula Rucker.
BODYWRMR / JEFFREY SUTORIUS (F.K.A. DASH BERLIN)
Label-, artist- & music management, strategic marketing and graphic design.
End of Summer 2018 Maarten got in touch again with an old friend, Jeffrey Sutorius, formerly known as Dash Berlin. They knew each other from back in the days when Maarten was LMR/This Is ™ label manager, whereas Jeff was Midtown Records’ store manager in The Hague (NL).
After some catching up Jeff invited him to become label manager for his new imprint BODYWRMR. Here Maarten worked with featuring artists such as Haliene, Aleksander Popov, Thomas Heredia, Lost Capital, Haliene and Jonathan Mendelsohn (a.o.).
This unfortunately ended after only 1,5 year of releases. Let’s say the relationship ended due to the devastating effects of the pandemic on global touring, to stay on the positive side
MOODS
Artist-, booking- & music management.
In the summer of 2013 Maarten teamed up with Rotterdam based Sober Industries, with the intention to restructure Sober Music. This is where he met Bluntspeakers, Pop On Acid and Moods (a.o.). He worked on some interesting projects with Sober Industries, and on releases with aforementioned artists.
After having signed Moods to his artist- & music management company, Theo Creative, they started a fresh journey. This eventually resulted in negotiating a record deal with Kraak & Smaak’s label, BoogieAngst, as well as a publishing deal with London based Jalapeño.
Their journey included a handful of cool releases and Moods’ first steps as a dj/performer in the European club and festival scene. At the same time Maarten also kept being involved in M&P for some talented people outside the electronic, or dance music scene.
